Statement:

Reiko Murakami is a Japanese born artist based in the US. Her work focuses on depicting complex emotions that words cannot fully describe. This body of work expresses the sense of entrapment and internal conflict from the perspective of one who finds a dichotomy in their biological and cultural identities. With the interpretation that a body is a burden to one’s freedom, these pieces challenge the societal expectations of social hierarchy.
